CC Sabathia Exits with Bicep Tightness

Well the durable, inning-eating, work-horse, $161 million pitcher AKA CC Sabathia left during the second inning of today's game against the Marlins. This is one guy the Yankees CANNOT afford to lose for more than a start in the rotation. Stay tuned.

Get Ready for Championship Monday

Very odd to be watching the U.S. Open on a Sunday when it is only the third round. Ricky Barnes who at one point was 11 under after a birdie and an eagle in his first 4 holes looks to be losing it a bit. Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods look like they are trying to make some sort of run, but for Woods, it could be too little, too late as he closes out his third round.

With the way things are playing out, this has all the makings for a down-to-the-wire race with multiple guys at the end.

U.S. Open Eerily Resembling British Open

How about the weather that the U.S. Open has been 'blessed' with over the past few days. Almost completely rained out Thursday plus an eventual rain-out today and expected showers tomorrow and you have yourself a major tournament that could last until Tuesday.

Ricky Barnes did a great job impersonating Tiger Woods yesterday, setting an Open Record with a -8 after two rounds. Am I really typing '-8' for a score at Bethpage Black?!?

It will be interesting to see how all of this unsettled weather affects any kind of surge made by the likes of Phil Mickelson (-1 after two complete rounds)and Tiger Woods(+2 thru overall thru 11 holes today).

Yankees, Mets Both Winners
Saturday, June 20, 2009, 12:48 PM - MLB, Yankees, Mets
Posted by Mike Ferrara
Both New York baseball teams found success after dropping their previous two games last night. The Mets returned to Citi Field and scored a win against the Rays, while the Yankees found a way to score five runs (without A-Rod who is apparently fatigued) and beat the Marlins, mostly thanks to Andy Pettitte's outstanding performance.

A 5-1 win over the Marlins doesn't automatically cure the wounds of losing two-out-of-three to the Nationals, although it does help that Boston lost to Atlanta, thus bringing the Yankees to two games back in the standings. Still, things must be dealt with.

Yankees Should Be Ashamed of Themselves
Thursday, June 18, 2009, 09:59 PM - Yankees

Where to begin? The worst team in baseball comes into Yankee Stadium and takes two-out-of-three. The Yankees are actually lucky they didn't get swept, if not for Elijah Dukes and his two errors in the outfield.

I'm sorry, I don't give a rat's ass, let me be the only one to say this, Joba Chamberlain has lost it as a pitcher. He has come nowhere close to the velocity we saw last year and despite a few good sliders, he really hasn't had many devastating pitches. HE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO THE 8TH INNING WHENEVER THE NEXT CHANCE PRESENTS ITSELF.

Absolutley pitiful. We say it with the Mets all the time. You have to win the games that you are supposed to win and they blew it. Now they are off to play six games in national league parks (3 in Florida, 3 in Atlanta).

I realize it is pointless to over-react over two games in June, but again, you can't be happy when the (by far) the worst team in baseball comes into town and shows a $200+ million team how to play baseball.

Hopefully the offense is waiting for them in Florida...

First Round of U.S. Open Suspended Until Tomorrow by Rain

Well, now the rest of the country has a glimpse into what the NY-Metro area has been dealing with the last two weeks. The weather has been the story early this morning at Bethpage Black where the tournament has been cancelled for the rest of the day.

Tiger Woods was even through five holes, then double-bogeyed six and birdied seven before the action was called. As if Bethpage Blcak wasn't hard enough, add these elements and Even or -1 may be enough win it all.

Chien-Ming Wang is All-In Tonight
Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 02:36 PM - Yankees
Posted by Mike Ferrara

Even Yankees Manager, Joe Girardi has said that tonight's start for Chien-Ming Wang is a make-or-break start and will determine his future with the rotation and perhaps with the big-league team. If Wang struggles tonight, warm up the bus and drive west toward Scranton. If Wang goes out there and delivers a quality start that buys him some more time. Sure, the Nationals are a 16-win team, by far the worst in baseball, but they still do have some legit guys in their lineup (Zimmerman, Dunn, N. Johnson, Dukes).

NY Times: Sammy Sosa Did Steroids

This one is no surprise WHATSOEVER. This report from the New York Times just confirms what most have thought for years now. This certainly puts a huge damper on Sosa's chances to make the Hall of Fame.
